Clothing & textile recycling

Trying to get rid of your old clothes?

There’s still so many uses for the items you don’t feel like wearing anymore, such as donating your unwanted garments or turning old clothing into cleaning rags. Using them for crafting purposes is also a wonderful idea and if you’re not a crafter, you can lend these items to someone you know who is.

But even if you can’t pass them on to other people, do not get discouraged! You can always place your clothes in a special recycling facility or offer them to organizations that manage recycling processes.

Clothing and textile recycling has a huge environmental impact as it saves landfill space, conserves a vital amount of energy and water, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and leads to an overall pollution avoidance.

If you are in Greece, here is how you can make use of the clothes and textiles you no longer need:

  • place them in the FABRIC REPUBLIC’s collection bins. FABRIC REPUBLIC is an innovative clothing management system that deals with compiling, sorting and cleaning excess clothing that is later distributed or upcycled.

  • place them in the specially designed red or purple recycling bins that can be found in various spots all over the country.

Place only the following items in a closed bag and throw them into a red or purple bin: clothes, paired footwear, linen (sheets, pillowcases, curtains, etc.), blankets, bags, belts, accessories.

Do not throw dirty or wet clothes, carpets and cloth scraps, unpaired shoes, organic waste, plastic items, packaging paper, glass or frying oil into the red bins.
